Dune Movie Review

So in a nutshell, it’s a hard fight for power …but in a different planet.

The Arrakis control the spices that grow only on this planet, however there is a catch there.

The new aristocratic regime must not only contend with blistering heat and a lack of water, but also with the malevolent House Harkonnen’s violent assault. Harkonnen will not give up their golden goose easily after exploiting Arrakis’ riches and people for the past 80 years. The Atreides must also contend with the wrath of the Fremen, the local desert dwellers who despise outsiders and their imperialism.

For those unfamiliar with the series, Atreides is one of the great houses of the Imperium, a feudal interstellar empire ruled by the ’emperor.’ The storey is driven by Paul, the son of Duke Leto Atreides I (Oscar Isaac) and his Bene Gesserit concubine Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), who was born on the planet Caladan. He inherited the Bene Gesserit power of ‘Voice,’ which allows him to manipulate others simply by changing his vocal tones. Is he the one who can make humanity’s future brighter?

Denis Villeneuve is a master of his trade, never sacrificing scale, significance, or emotions in order to realise his ambitions. His storytelling use voice-over to gradually acclimate you to Herbert’s futuristic environment. Villeneuve, who is known for creating cathartic epics, dazzles you in every frame, claiming your undivided attention. His attention to detail and scale are incredible. Your senses are captivated by the great Hans Zimmer’s score. Dune, which was shot in IMAX, is a visually stunning film.
